Position Description:
The Trainer will be responsible for conducting training courses and field support for SunPower installer partners across Germany. The courses that the Trainer will teach directly will cover technical and process training. Planning and coordination responsibilities will also extend to Sales training, which will be conducted by others.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Execute training sessions to ensure that the installer partner base is trained on the following topic areas: • new products in advance of product launch • best-in-class installation practices, installation process controls and installation quality control methods and procedures • pv system site assessment, and electrical and mechanical design • best-in-class sales methods and processes • Assist the EU Training Manager to plan, coordinate, develop curricula and evaluate the effectiveness of technical and sales related training courses. • Develop presentations using PowerPoint and write chapters in the Technical Manual to support classroom and self-study online learning. • Provide field support to the installer partner base as a final phase of initial training and as needed to solve field problems and provide rapid customer satisfaction • Coordinate logistics related to conducting hands-on classroom and field classes, including adjusting agenda, monitoring scheduled attendance, and insuring all necessary equipment and materials are on-hand and in working order. • Report on all training related activities and insure accuracy and integrity of training related data. • Conduct field inspections of installations as needed to insure quality control and provide support to installers and gather feedback from installers that will enhance our product offerings. • Review quality assurance inspection reports and provide feedback to nationwide network of trained inspectors to ensure accuracy of reporting • Work closely with R&D, Product Management and Applications Engineering groups to convey customer feedback to the company and hence to help define requirements for new products. • As required, collaborate on technical issues with suppliers of BOS (Balance of System) components – such as inverters, mounting systems, system monitoring software – to enhance the application of the company’s products with these components and to ensure that the company’s PV Systems continue to be the best PV systems offering in the market. • As required, in conjunction with Applications Engineering, support the company’s customers and sales force on all technical issues, develop technical bulletins and other technical documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required
      • Bachelors degree (B.S. / B.Eng.) in electrical engineering, energy technologies, power control or related field
      • 2+ years of training experience with at least 1 year of working in semi-autonomous manner
      • 2+ years of customer technical or application support experience with photovoltaic products, energy technologies, power control or related field, working directly with an installation network
      • Superior communication skills – both written and oral and good listening skills.
      • Competence with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
      • Demonstrated experience in creating customer documentation, including application notes and product manuals
      • Strong customer focused attitude
      • Experience working with licensed contractors
      • Fluency in English and German is required

    Preferred:

      • Experience which demonstrates some appreciation of mechanical engineering and civil engineering principles
      • Experience that demonstrates the use of internet based tools to enhance the customer support function (system sizing and output prediction programs, sun position programs)
      • Experience with e-learning software and computer-based authoring tools
      • Degree in field related to Adult Education, Instructional Design or Educational Psychology
      • Experience with CAD or illustration software
      • NABCEP certification or working towards certification
