Position Description:
As a member of ExxonMobil Chemical Company’s (EMCC) global specialty polymers technology organization, the Improve engineer will work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and improve the performance at EMCC’s world wide network of specialty polymers plants through the application of engineering principles. The improve engineer will have an in depth understanding of the current state of process technology in the specialty polymers industry, and will create and disseminate new process technology within the EMCC organization.

TYPICAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    * Applies personnel and process safety principles within EMCC facilities
    * Drives improvement within EMCC operations through technical contribution and innovation
    * Supports new product development and plant implementation.
    * Supports implementation of new technology developments
    * Participates in global process networks and network initiative implementation
    * Development of the next generation of technical professionals
    * Manages site Intellectual Property obligations
    * Requires 10-15% domestic and international travel

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    * Expert in the use of EMCC / industry technical tools and methods
    * Effective verbal and written skills (e.g. technical reports and technology rollout presentations at plant sites)
    * Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
    * Leader and self starter, takes the initiative in applying, developing and communicating technical issues
    * Good presentation skills, capable of representing the company to external entities
    * Demonstrated knowledge or experience in polymers manufacturing operations
    * Understands economic analysis, market issues, as they relate to use, acquisition, and development of technology
    * Team player within the EMCC technical community, able to manage conflicts
    * Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
