Position Description:
Assist Veterinarians and Technicians with the care of surgical patients.

Responsibilities:

    * Assist with the admission and discharge of surgical patients
    * Assist with radiology and obtaining diagnostics on surgical patients'
    * Provide assistance to the Surgical Staff in all aspects of anesthetic care, including but not limited to, the assisting with pre and post operative treatments, patient transport, surgical preparation, set-up and break down of operating rooms and general cleaning
    * Provide instrument care and support for all AMC services.
    * This position will include training in specialized equipment utilized throughout the Animal Medical Center in departments such as: Dentistry, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Community Practice, Interventional Radiology, Neurology and Medicine.
    * Provide direct support to the surgical services during appointments, examinations, diagnostics and procedures
    * Troubleshoot, operate and care for surgical and anesthetic equipment
    * Maintain inventory and a clean work environment

      Qualifications:

        * Experienced in operating room procedures and protocols preferred
        * Able to work successfully as part of a team and autonomously
        * Experience in surgery preferred but will train motivated individual
        * Ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations
        * Strong skill set in animal handling and client communication
        * Willingness and determination to focus on and excel in surgical instrumentation care, maintenance and sterilization
        * Strong communication skills
        * Must be flexible about working additional hours when workload requires it

      Shift:

      1. Sunday 10am-6pm; Monday-Thursday 12pm-8pm; 2. Tuesday-Friday 8am-4pm; Saturday 2pm-10pm. Shifts will vary based on assignments and the needs of the department. Future shifts may include weekdays, weekends and evenings.
