Position Description:
This is a part time position, requiring on average 20 hours per week. The Competitive Director of Coaching will be permitted to participate in soccer camps and other activities operated by Colleges and other entities providing the Executive Director deems not to be in conflict with CYSA, camps operated by Region IV, the Association, or its members. The Director of Coaching may receive additional compensation from other employer and the organizers of such camps without a reduction in the salary paid by the Association.

PURPOSE: Manages and controls the daily functions of the Competitive Coaching Education Program, and assists in providing member services as the Associations' representative to our member Leagues. The Competitive Director of Coaching also serves as an advisor to the Executive Director and the State ODP Technical Director, and the committee of the Olympic Development Program at the request of ODP Technical Director. Responsible for the following areas, and be expected to delegate, monitor and adjust the use of associates, volunteers and state staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

COACHING EDUCATION PROGRAM:
Recruit, select, train and evaluate State Coaching Instructional Staff for the National D and above courses. Work in conjunction with in-house DOC to Assign and Coordinate staffing for courses, grading, instructional guidelines, curriculum (regional and national) and staff meetings.

    * Assign instructional staff coaches for all national D and above approved coaching courses.
    * Invite National level courses into the state. Provide all course rosters and candidate information, as well as prepare and maintain course materials, coaches' certificates and/or licenses.
    * Create and maintain League/Club coaches training materials and promote them throughout the state.
    * Promote and prepare coaches for the National Courses throughout the state.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND MEMBER SERVICES:

    * Promote soccer statewide for the competitive levels. Aid in the development of new Soccer Leagues and Association Programs, including but not limited to: recruiting, organizing and planning coaches' clinics; speaking and participating at meetings of membership; testifying and presenting information on player development before governmental agencies and committees; and, attending CYSA events as requested by the Executive Director. Write articles and publish training sessions for the CYSA newsletter and website and other publications such as the Soccer Journal.
    * Organize and plan workshops, seminars and other types of educational programs to be presented at the CYSA Soccer Expo, Presidents Workshop and/or other CYSA events as requested by the Executive Director.
    * Attend and give written reports at CYSA Board Meetings and Annual General Meeting.
    * Attend Regional and National Coaching symposiums, seminars, Regional and US Youth Soccer Workshops as directed by the Executive Director. All travel must take into account the current year's budget.
    * Disseminate the most current coaching methods and techniques to staff coaches at least once per year through clinic or seminar, and through year-round written communications.
    * Assist Executive Director in development and implementation of the state coaching budget.
    * Maintain lines of communication with CYSA Board of Directors, Executive

Director, office staff, State Coaching Instructional staff, Coaching Committee, ODP Coaching Staff, and ODP Committee and most importantly, our membership.

    * Edit and revise the CYSA Coach's Handbook annually for the competitive side.
    * Develop Parent Education workshops/clinics.
    * Other duties as assigned.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

    * Maintain a positive image for the association.
    * Apply problem-solving skills in a manner revealing potential opportunities.
    * Treat membership, volunteers, and staff in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
    * Other duties/responsibilities as assigned or needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    * Current "A" and "National Youth" Licenses from the USSF. In absence of either license, compensation will be adjusted for first year. During this period, the coach must certify attaining the required license(s).
    * Previous experience in USSF Coaching Education Program to instruct the required "State Level" Licenses.
    * A demonstrated broad and diverse coaching ability at all ages and levels of play. Ability to motivate, train and teach coaches, players, parents and volunteers.
    * Computer experience and knowledge of multiple software programs, Microsoft Office.
