Position Description:
The Director of Publicity creates strategic plans and supervises the execution of PR programs, both domestically and internationally, for all Lucasfilm Ltd. and Lucasfilm Animation entertainment properties in the theatrical, DVD and television arenas. This role will position Lucasfilm as a leader in the industry and keep its technological achievements at the forefront in the media. Serve as the key writer in the PR department. Develop and manage budgets for all PR campaigns.
Duties:
* Create and direct the development of strategic worldwide publicity campaigns for entertainment titles (theatrical, DVD and television).
* Manage publicity campaigns for international offices of studio partners and global promotional partners.
* Supervise internal aspects of PR campaign coordination including development of clip reports, final PR summaries, EPK production, coordination of special events in PR program, and Lucasfilm's internet press area.
* Direct a PR campaign for Lucasfilm Animation to develop a stronger public awareness and image.
* Write press releases, press kits, forewords, ad copy, video scripts and talking points.
* Develop and manage budgets for PR campaigns.
* Maintain and develop relationships with clients and the distribution studio.
* Serve as media liaison and spokesperson for Lucasfilm projects.
* Maintain and develop relationships with studio partners.
Requirements:
* Requires a Bachelors degree, preferably in journalism or a related field, such as English, marketing, communications. Graduate degree in a related field is preferred.
* Must have minimum 7-10 years of public relations experience in the film or television industry, with a track record of increasing responsibilities and team management/leadership.
* Must have extensive knowledge of the Lucasfilm brands-Star Wars and Clone Wars in particular.
* Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute public relations strategies and the management of the press. Creativity, flexibility, problem-solving skills, and superior communication skills are a necessity for success in this position.
* Exceptional research, writing, and editorial skills with the proven ability to write effective press releases and communicate complex or technical information to the public.
* Prior journalistic or related experience that has provided a high level of professional judgment and a savvy understanding of the press and opinion formation through the media, particularly print and broadcast.
