Key Accountabilities:

• Contributes to the development of policy, standards and leadership in the areas of safety.
• Provide safety support for personnel assigned to operations, maintenance and engineering roles in extraction.
• Lead and Support the safety function within the Business Area (3 safety specialists.)
• Identify and communicate OH&S or other pertinent regulatory requirements/changes for extraction.
• Interpret Legislation and assist in the development of compliance strategies.
• Act as a Liaison and develop a positive working relationship with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety representatives.
• Work with the Business Area CFT to establish annual objectives, targets and KPI’s for Safety performance.
• Provide leadership and direction in the use of EHS related business processes such as Incident Learning and Prevention, Management of Change and Action Management. Track and communicate compliance with these transactions.
• Coordinate internal and external inspections, investigations and audits.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Degree from a recognized university and / or a Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation.
• A minimum of 6-8 years experience in an EH&S role.
• At least 2 years supervisory experience
• Solid understanding of oil & gas, petrochemical industry with the ability to lead change.
• Working knowledge of pertinent provincial legislation would be an asset.
