Meetings and Interviews

All hiring is conducted at our recruiting offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Sydney, Vancouver, and Japan. Please note that all of our meetings and interviews are held at our offices or other assigned locations. To attend a meeting session, you will be required to travel to one of those locations at your own expense.

Our interview process includes a general information meeting, a group interview, and for successful applicants a private interview. The selection process usually takes at least 2 separate/consecutive days. In no case do we hold telephone interviews.

Positions and Locations

AEON hires English teachers year-round and positions are available monthly. There is no deadline for application; however, we recommend applying 4-6 months prior to your intended departure date.

Applicants may express their preferences regarding job location, teaching adults or children and a departure time. We try to accommodate these requests to the best of our ability; however, we are not always able to do so since we are working with the positions that need to be filled.

All teachers will know their job location before signing the contract.

Qualifications

All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (any major is acceptable) combined with a perfect command of the English language, and a genuine interest in teaching as well as the culture and people of Japan.

Although the diversity and the individuality of each of our foreign staff members are important, there are certain qualities shared by all of our foreign teaching staff: professionalism, organization, perseverance, respect, creativity, flexibility, and most importantly, enthusiasm.

Japanese language ability is helpful, but not mandatory. Teaching experience is not necessary.

Stipulations

All of our contracts are for a minimum of one year (there is no shorter contract) and are renewable.

Each teacher receives a monthly salary of 255,000 yen with a one-time bonus upon completion of the final contract.

Each position comes with a single occupancy, fully furnished apartment. All our teachers pay the subsidized rent of 39,000 yen a month and AEON pays the rest of the amount exceeding 39,000 yen.

All teachers are responsible for their own flight to Japan to commence employment. A return ticket will be provided upon completion of the final contract.

A teacher receives initial one-week paid training and other on-going training in Japan, over 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 personal days per year and 100% basic medical insurance coverage.

The working hours are 36 hours a week (5 days a week) and teachers receive 2 consecutive days off per week (either Saturday – Sunday or Sunday – Monday).
