ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists daily with room set up.
* Greets students and directs them to appropriate activities.
* Greets and assists parents as needed at sign in and sign out.
* Works well with volunteers and parents in the classroom.
* Follows all school procedures related to students, safety and security.
* Organizes materials and supplies for projects and activities.
* Monitors student behavior and provides disciplinary support as appropriate.
* Implements approved student procedures, programs and activities.
* Assists with and supervises children in outdoor and special activities and field trips.
* Assists with such clerical work as filing, supply and material inventory, data entry, etc.
* Attends and participates in staff meetings.
* Other duties as assigned by the Preschool Teacher or Director of the Preschool.

Other Responsibilities:

* Arrives punctually in order to meet responsibilities in site start up and assignments. Maintains close communication with the Preschool Teacher regarding planned or emergency absences to ensure adequate supervision is maintained.
* Serves as a positive role model for children in the program through appropriate dress, speech, attitude and courtesy. Maintains positive and cheerful outlook.
* Works to support a learning environment that respects the individual and values diversity.
* Assists in keeping the site clean.
* Assists with snack preparation, serving and clean up.
* Maintains highest degree of confidentiality in staff, student and volunteer matters.
* Complies with organization and site policies and follows procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

* 6 units in Early Childhood Education or related coursework preferred.
* Previous experience working with children in a childcare, classroom, or after-school environment preferred.
